If you've been looking forward to having your email address or witty saying engraved on the back of your Moto X, it looks like you're going to have to wait awhile.  Motorola has just let it be known that they've been having some quality control issues with the engraving and thus it won't be available at launch.  According to Computerworld's J.R. Raphael, the quality of the engraving during beta tests wasn't up to the standards required for a consumer product.  They're working on perfecting it though and hope to have it available at a later date.

Good for Motorola for pulling that part of their production chain instead of just shipping it. That to me shows that they want to get it right and not just punch out phones with an important customization that isn't.

Quality control has to be the #1 issue out of the gate with this phone if Motorola is to be successful.

I hope the quality control is even higher for the non glitz related parts of the phone such as how it works and performs without any hiccups...

Agree. That part will be harder to do than write/print something on the back cover.

Finished reading a post by theverge this morning saying it might just be the words people want to slap on the phones. I would think it's not the concern putting words on the phone but what words you use. That might be the glitch we're seeing.

ATT would be the first customers to experience this setback so maybe VZW and the others would see it back to plan after this gets straightened out.
