In a bid to court the developer community, Motorola has followed through on promises to make developer editions of the Moto X available and today it did just that.   For $649 you can pick up either a Verizon or GSM network edition Moto X emblazoned with “DEVELOPER EDITION” on the back and a signature black front/white back design.  The Developer edition phones also come standard with 32GB of RAM and have unlockable bootloaders.

On the Moto X site the company pokes a bit of fun at developers with a page that reads:

Quote
The tinkerer’s toy:
Change settings, flash a new kernel, and pretty much gain superpowers. It's the kind of fun that voids warranties.* But then again, you've always been into that sorta thing.

And of course Moto covers itself legally by warning that in fact unlocking your bootloader may very much voids your warranty so while they give instructions on how to do it they also a full page of legalese to make sure you understand the implications.  With that said...have at it developers!

Well now...I don't like the white back/black front combo and I'm not a developer so all I know about this model is :

1) Expensive and you can't moto maker it.

2) If you un-lock the bootloader ... that voids the warranty. (wasn't going to anyway)

3) It doesn't come with Verizon's bloat right?

4) 32gb storage rather than 16 so lot's o' room for music, videos, extra drinks  ???

5) It has everything the standard Moto X has you buy out of the VZW store ... OK Google now, Motorola assist , Active Notifications.

anything else I missed that's convincing to me that I should buy it?

Google Play Edition of the Moto X might be out by November (that could be a wait-n-see). Unless I get sleepness nights, I'll pull up a chair and wait...and wait...and

Thanks a lot Bfm for the post!   zzz...
