10+ apps always running
« on: March 06, 2014, 11:58:51 AM »
I installed battery doctor on my phone and every 10 minutes or so i kill all tasks and every time there is 10+ apps running, even if the phone has been locked the whole  time. A lot of these are bloatware apps I don't use like google+ Or Google news stand and Google play. Its wasting a lot of battery and I don't know how to make them stop running permanently.

This is what I've used to "stop" running apps that you might not need.

Select 'APPS' from the home screen.
Then from the APPS tab, select SETTINGS
From the DEVICE section, select APPS
Swipe left or right to the RUNNING tab and that will show you the APPS that are currently running.
Tap one that you would like to STOP running. (BE CAREFUL some like Google's Play Services apps may need to run!)
From the SERVICES section, select Stop.
From the 'Stop system service?' prompt, select OK.

That should STOP the app from running until you either restart your phone or start the app again. Hope this helps.
Note: I have VZW and the following is disabled on my Moto X : Google Play Books, Google Play Newsstand, NFL Mobile, Verizon Navigator, Caller Name ID. That's all and I get constant 2 days of battery life on 4.4.2 KitKat  :)
