This is kinda old but could have some bearing on those wanting to order online @ VZW...if true.

We don't have any corroboration for this from any of our secondary sources, but we have received some insider intel that may be important for Verizon customers who want to grab the Moto X. According to the info, the initial online order of the VZW Moto X will not come with Android 4.3 installed. Supposedly, Verizon plans to update the online ordered Moto X phones to the newer version of Android on September 4th.

To be clear, the retail store versions of this device will supposedly not have this problem and will actually already have Android 4.3 installed. This could mean that the brick-and-mortar retail Verizon stores won't even get the device until on or after September 4th, but it could also simply mean the Moto X phones which are ordered online are organized in a different batch which will not have the Android 4.3 update until later.

Could someone explain what a regular user (not developer, or techie) might notice in performance or appearance from the 4.2.? Just curious how this appears to a user and why it might keep someone away from a purchase until after 4.3 is up and going...

I couldn't say for sure. I might be eating crow from my post beginning tomorrow.

It won't keep me away if (4.3) is up and going. Just waiting for motomaker and the $99 savings coming hopefully before Christmas.

After KitKat was announced, 4.3 might have some helpful fixes for the Moto X camera if we see it by the end of the year. Kinda wait-n-see.

fyi, I have a moto X ordered online and i don't have an OTA update to 4.3.  THough the main thing you gain is the ability to have multiple user profiles (mainly for tablets) and fixes for tablets such as the Nexus 7 which was sluggish after the 4.2.x updates.  SO not a big deal to be running 4.2.2 on the Moto X

As it's now October 24 (and there was supposed to be a new 4.2 build... Ghost 13.15-something? released on October 22. I still don't have it), what's the news?

That sounds like you are looking for the ota.  If I am not mistaken there is another thread talking about the Verizon ota and how it is just now in testing.  Not officially out to everyone yet.

Sent from my XT901 using Tapatalk 4.1.4

The latest I read over at G+ is that Verizon pushed to 5,000 customers the 135.15.1 update for a "soak" period to evaluate the update on 10.22.13.  At 11:59pm on 10.24.13 Verizon will ramp the push campaign to capture the remainder of the base (customers) with Motorola MOTO X (XT1060) SU1  Version 135.15.1 .

I hope I don't eat crow...again  :-[
