It looks like later on this year, possibly, we will be seeing a GPE edition of the Moto X (that has been pretty much confirmed).  The big question is going to be whether it's going to be GSM only (only working on AT&T and T-Mobile) or if they are going to let CDMA carriers (US Cellular, Sprint, and Verizon) Play.

It will be interesting to see how market conditions will affect the price of the Moto X.  I know that they can offer a lower price.  The question is, will they?  Yes, at some point.  When, that only time can tell.

I think Motorola will have to be profitable first before they can start taking lower profit margins.

I thought Motorola would be just a device manufacturer from Google but that it's clearly not the case. They are separated(but affiliated) companies so they should be still viewed as separate entities.

Guy Kawasaki, Moto X marketing guru and evangelist pretty much nixed the Moto X Google Play rumor yesterday.  Apparently, the company feels that the Moto X is already a near-stock Android experience and it is the extra software features working with the Moto X hardware that makes the Moto X special.  Without that extra software added, a Moto X on strict stock Android wouldn't make sense as many of the special Moto X features wouldn't work.  A Moto X without all the cool contextual and sensor features, etc would just be another boring phone.  Thus, I wouldn't hold my breath on a Google Play Edition.

Yeah, I just now read that it would be sold on the Play Store, but will not be GPE.  Saw it on This Week in Google.

The time I think will be right around when VZW gets the green light on customization. September will be a kick-off month! <I think>

Yep, pretty much done for.  That's one of the biggest things they got right with Moto X.  Lightly toasted but not heavy on the extra sauce  ;)
