The Lounge- Off Topic Forum / Flavors of the World
« on: August 19, 2013, 09:45:09 AM »
We here in the US have pretty bland taste buds compared to the rest of the world (especially Asia).

Here are some examples of flavors around the world.

35 Strange Doritos Flavors

101 Ice Cream Flavors From Around the World

10 Weird Coke Flavors

Odd Lay's Potato Chip Flavors

This is just a start as there are plenty of other odd flavors.  So, pick the ones you are most likely to try (or have tried), add more odd flavors if you find them.

Here are mine:

Doritos: Tomato & Onion Salad
Ice Cream:  Wasabi Ice Cream
Coke:  Green Tea Coke (not sure if Bacon Coke is real or not)
Lay's: Hot Chili Squid

Moto X General Discussions / Commercialized?
« on: August 18, 2013, 05:39:04 PM »
I was thinking about it this morning and I realized the raw commercial potential that Motorola has with the Moto X. Just think about that for a minute, because that is what the customizable nature of the Moto X can offer.

Imagine big name fashion designers like Vera Wang, Gwen Stefani, Kenneth Cole, etc... Along with popular artists having their own custom designs for the Moto X. And also shameless advertisers coming in, like Harley Davidson, Eddie Bauer, Calvin Klein with their logo deigned phones.

Or what about a big company that provides company phones for their employees, they could offer the Moto X in their company colors with the company logo as wallpaper. Who knows, maybe in the future, the company can put their logo on the back.

Maybe some companies will have customized phones that they use as prize giveaways, maybe they will subsidize the phone if it has their company logo on it as advertising.

The potiential is there, if women spend hundreds on a purse just because it says Coach on it, and men buy stuff because it has Bone Collector on it (even if it's more expensive) they will buy a phone at a premium because it was designed by their favorite designer.

From 1912?

Here's an example of a test that an eighth grader had to study for.

Bullitt County History 1912 Eighth Grade Test

Math:  A school enrolled 120 pupils and the number of boys was two thirds the number of girls.  How many of each sex were enrolled.
Grammar: Parse all the words in the following sentences:  John ran over the bridge.  Helen's parents love her.
Geography:  Through what waters should a vessel pass in going from England through the Suez Canal to Manila?
Physiology: Compare arteries and veins as to function.  Where is the blood carried to be purified?
Civil Government:  What is a Copyright?  Patent Right?
History: During what wars were the following wars fought?  Brandywine, Great Meadows, Lundy's Lane, Anteitam, Buena Vista

What are your passions outside of the digital world and work.  What do you do for fun?

Me, I play bass guitar, I'm not great but I have fun doing it.  I'm also an avid researcher.

I also love to cook and grill, and eat it too :).

So what about you?

Aptina has just officially unveiled its Clarity Plus (Clarity+) technology and chances are the same technology will power the camera in the Moto X. Here is what itís all about.

But the best news
The official unveiling of the Moto X is expected for early August with nearly immediate pre-sale availability. The Moto X should arrive on all U.S. carriers and go on sale at their stores at the end of August, and August 23rd in particular for Verizon Wireless.

Moto X General Discussions / Why the Moto X?
« on: July 16, 2013, 06:46:51 PM »
Just wanted to open up a discussion on why you aret interested in the Moto X phone.

For me, my interest is three fold. First I am glad to see that the Moto X phone will bring jobs back to America. I am hoping that this opens up the door for more OEM's to bring jobs to this country.

Second I am interested in the software aspect and the customization potential of the Moto X. The contextual software seems very smooth and easy to use. This to me is a huge step in making smart phones more personal. The DROID phones are great, but the way they were marketed (esp. the DROID DNA) made the impression that you would become part of the phone rather than the phone becoming an extension of who you are.

Third, I am excited about the paradigm shift that Motorola/Google are making. It is my opinion that if OEM's get too caught up in cranking out powerhouses, prices of smart phones will go out of control. You
begin to get into a match between OEM powerhouses and start leaving everyone else behind. Motorola/Google is basically saying, "Look at how far we've come so quickly with Android. Let's use what we have already hardware wise and focus on user experience."

Anyway, that's my two cents worth. I would love to hear your thoughts.
